SOLO ACCOUNTING - free beta for Windows 10 and 11
by Hendercap LLC - hendercap.com - hello@hendercap.com

Solo Accounting keeps the books for a one- or two-person business. Each month
you import your bank and credit card statements, tell the app what each line
was, and it keeps your Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet up to date, checked to
the cent against your statements. Your books stay on your own computer.

Good fit: sole proprietors, one-owner LLCs, spouses or two partners, and small
S or C corporations with no payroll to run and no inventory to track.
Not built for: running payroll, inventory, invoicing, more than two owners,
a Mac, or currencies other than US dollars. It does not file taxes.

INSTALL (about 2 minutes, once)
--------------------------------
1. Unzip this download to a folder you will keep, for example
Documents\Solo Accounting. (Not your Downloads folder, and not inside
   another program's folder.)
2. Open that folder and double-click "install.cmd".
Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the file came from
the internet. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". This happens once.
The installer downloads the Node.js runtime the app runs on (about 30 MB,
from nodejs.org, checked against a fixed fingerprint), then puts a
"Solo Accounting" shortcut on your Desktop.
3. Double-click the "Solo Accounting" shortcut. Your web browser opens the
app. Nothing is sent to the internet: the app runs only on this computer.
4. New here? Click the "How to use" tab (it is also linked from the first
setup screen). It walks through setup and the monthly routine.

WHERE YOUR BOOKS LIVE
---------------------
- Your business file: C:\Users\<you>\SoloAccounting\data
- Automatic backups: the "Backups" folder next to install.cmd
(change it, or add a second backup folder, in Settings -> Backups)
The app folder and your books are separate, so installing a newer version
never touches your books.

UPDATING TO A NEWER VERSION
---------------------------
1. In the app, click "Quit" (bottom of Home, or Settings).
2. Replace this folder's contents with the new download (keep the Backups
folder if you want your old backups next to the app).
3. Double-click "install.cmd" again, then use the Desktop shortcut.
The first start after an update may take a backup and update your file's
format. That is normal.

UNINSTALLING
------------
Quit the app, then delete: this folder, the Desktop shortcut, and
C:\Users\<you>\SoloAccounting (that last folder holds your books - keep a
backup first if you might want them later).

SENDING FEEDBACK
----------------
Email hello@hendercap.com with what you tried, what you expected, and what
happened. Screenshots help. If a bank statement PDF does not import, say
which bank it is; please do NOT email a statement unless you are comfortable
sharing it - most banks also offer a CSV or QFX download that works today.

BETA NOTICE
-----------
This is beta software, free to use. Keep your own records and backups, and
check important numbers against your statements. Solo Accounting is a
bookkeeping tool, not tax, legal or accounting advice; talk to your tax
preparer about your return. See "License and terms.txt".
